I saw the results from Paris last night, and I got super motivated. Its amazing how just a little confidence and consistent training allows you to dream again. I’m not delusional; I don’t think I can go from 15:30 to 14:50 at the snap of a finger. It will take a lot of hard hard work, but it can be done. And I truly believe that it can be done by me.
The key is not getting impatient this summer, now that I’m dreaming big again. I’ll need to compete in my summer races with the body and fitness I currently have, even though my mind sees bigger and better things ahead. This will be challenging.
I can’t get discouraged. I must be 100% of what I am today. I am determined to feel good about every little step forward.
Gosh it feels good to dream again.
“Just because you don’t acheive something, it doesn’t mean it won’t happen. It only means it won’t happen yet”- Lolo Jones.
You can do 14.50 and i can’t wait to see it!!!
Thanks you two for the pump up! That’s a great Lolo quote…I’ll remember that.
Personally, I prefer your “I must be 100% of what I am today” line. I’m printing it out and putting it up in my office, where I can see it every day. Because it is about commitment to excellence in every aspect of one’s life, because getting where we want to go can take longer and be harder than we ever imagined, and because much as we would like to, we cannot control the outcome of our efforts. Think of your statement as a modern-day prose version of Tennyson’s “To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield”!!
Being of a strong Polish heritage, I feel the urge to knock on wood 3 times, spit, throw salt and just about everything I can think of to prevent bad luck 😉
Instead, I’ll just say I’m getting all excited waiting to see what the future races hold for you!
i know i’m late to the party on this post, but just wanted to say it was awesome. like louise, i love the “i must be 100% of what i am today” line. it’s so great that you can keep perspective about where your ability to perform currently lies and balance that with big dreams. go lauren!
