Sweet! I made it on the cover of

Runner’s World!

And as a special thanks to all of you who traveled the road with me…

I’ll sign your issue!

RW Cover

Me at 13, in 9th grade.

This image is included in the RW profile piece on page 80! Go Canyon!

After winning London 5k (crazy euphoric blog post can be found here), and announcing my debut at ING NY Marathon for November 6th, Runner’s World decided to put the hot runner models on hold and put me on the cover. I was like “Word?”

I admit it was a dream of mine to be on the cover since I picked up my first issue at age 13 along with my first pair of real running shoes. But can you imagine what a stretch it was for the girl in the photo to the left to imagine this happening?

Yep. I was in high school in this photo.

Canyon Cowboys baby. State champs that year, and freshman got last pick for uniforms (notice the way I make those larges look sexy).

 So Here’s the Deal…

Runner’s World November edition is being officially released October 4th. From now until Halloween, if you buy a copy of Runner’s World and mail it to me, I’ll sign it and mail it back!

After you’ve poured over the articles, highlighted your favorite passages, etc, pop the following in an envelope:

  1. Your proudly purchased Runner’s World’s November issue
  2. A self-addressed postage paid envelope with $2.08 postage on it (for 1st class mail within the USA).
  3. Anything else you wish to include (a happy face on a post-it, gucci gift cards, a personal story that will inspire me, a Halloween costume idea, who’s name you want on the magazine, etc).

Do that by October 31, 2011 and I’ll send you your magazine back ASAP (I’ll need some leeway around the time of NY Marathon). If the return envelope and postage aren’t there, your magazine won’t go to waste; I’ll donate it to the local high school kids!

Believe I Am

journalThose of you who know me know I’m not one to make a sales pitch, but I feel I can’t miss this opportunity to make a plug for a project that my friend Ro and I recently finished. We created a training journal over the past year that we really believe will make a difference to female runners of all abilities, and we did it with the help of 12 stunning professional women runners from around the world.

Its an inspirational mind/body tool full of hand drawn illustrations that help you think positively about yourself as you go after your goals. Obviously you don’t have to buy it, but its worth a look!

I look forward to receiving your magazine!

Going to the NY Marathon?

If you’ll be at the marathon, you might be able to save the postage. I’ll keep you updated on the date/time NYRR invites me to the EXPO. I’d be happy to sign your copy of Runner’s World there, as well as Believe I Am Training Journals!

    Alli…..
I think she has said in the past she runs in Nike Lunarglide. Go through her twitter feed, in the past she made mention of it.

Hi Lauren! Are you still able to sign the cover of your Runner’s World magazine if I send it? I know it’s way past October 31, but I’d love to get it signed if you’re willing.

    Thanks so much,
    Steph

    Hi Lauren,

I wonder if you might be able to help me with a long-standing problem I have with my running. Many years ago, not knowing what I was doing and being pretty non-athletic, I ran for several years with a mechanically “messed-up” running form that left my left hamstring short, tight, and too strong. Now, although my form has been corrected, when I stride my left hamstring pulls my left leg too far back and simultaniously prevents full forward swing of the lower left leg. The result is I only have a “half stride” in that my left leg doesn’t really give me any forward motion.

I’ve tried stretching the hamstring and core strength training both of which have helped but haven’t solved the overall tightness and shortness in the left hamstring. Any suggestions?

    Thank you,

    Tom Herzog

Hey. I sometimes read the magazine and I bought the one with you on the cover. I never knew your name because I cut out the cover and put it on my fridge… strictly for inspiration! I have been running since I quit smoking in 2000. Just wanted to say thank you so much!
