    Hey Lauren,

I am a highschool distance runner and I have made it to state in the 4x800m and the 3200m. My main focus is the 3200, its the race I want to do the best in. I had the problem at regionals where, even though I went home after the 4×8 and took an hour and a half long nap, my legs felt completely dead and shot when it came time to run the 32 later that evening. Luckily I was tough enough to grit it out and qualify for state, but my time wasn’t my best by far and I don’t want this to happen again at the state meet. Any suggestions on how to prevent this from happening?

    Thanks!
    Macey

    Hi Lauren,
I think I have primary amenorrhea. I haven’t been diagnosed but I’m turning 16 this year and I haven’t had my period yet. I run six days and about 50 miles a week and I really feel like I eat ALOT. I know I need to eat more and gain weight but I try and I end up feeling disgustingly full after every meal. What would you advise I do?
    Thanks
    Nancy
PS don’t be deceived by the email, I made it when I was 8 :)

Dear Lauren, this is my first year of running track and I absolutely love it! However, I’m having a little bit of a struggle right now. I am having a hard time to trust myself during races. The last meet I ran the 1500 and 800 and felt that I didn’t run my full potential. I know I can run faster but I am always have the fear of hitting the wall and getting burned in the end. Please, I would love your advice! Thank you

    Sidney

Lauren, I know you’ve been dealing with bouncing back from a nagging injury for some time. What advice would you give to someone returning to running from a long ~4 month break (not necessarily from injury)?

    Lauren,
I recently suffered a fibula fracture while running, I know that the fibula isn’t a weight bearing bone but it has multiple muscle attachments. So, my question is what sort of training should I do to come back healthy from this and not have it be a reoccurring injury.
    Thanks
    Cade

I am taking ibprofen. roll a golf ball with my foot and do the frozen water bottle trick. I read your article in Running Times and wouls value your advice on how to beat this. I have a 25K race next saturday, 5/12 and am trying to break the 2 hour mark. I have been cross-training for the past 3 weeks, mostley recumbent bike.I also wear a night splint. Any suggestions?? Thank-you in advance and good luck as we approach olympic time. Thanks!! John Hawkins

    Hi,

I am looking for low impact running running solution. I am 7 Feet Tall former NCAA basketball player. I like the concept of Elliptigo. I found you, because they are using your name on their website.

    My question is:

    1) Is Elliptigo good replacement for people who want to preserve their knees and run outside in the same way they run on elliptical machines in the gym?

    2) How realistic is the run on Elliptigo?

    3) Do you like Elliptigo or you use it because they probably gave it to you for free to promote themselves.

    Thank you for your time,

    Lauren,
I have been running alot and I am working with recovering from a slight hamstring / IT band pull. Sometimes It doesn’t bother too much, but when I release my leg while walking down stairs and stretch even a bit, it feels too tight. I know I should rest it, but running has saved me lately with some major stressful life events, and I feel like I need to run. What else can I do to strengthen / rest it. I was thinking yoga but any other ideas?

Also, you rock! And if you have a second, any tips on how to run a half marathon at 7 min pace? Its a big goal of mine and Im determined to do it!!
    Thanks!
    Catherine

    Hello,

I have a question about birth control. I hear many conflicting views and am not sure what to think of it. Is it dangerous or helpful for runners?

    Confused.

    Lauren,

I’m a big fan of incremental gains, but sometimes I don’t see the results I’m seeking. What’s the healthiest way to improve my running time. Is there a certain % or formula the pros use?

    Lauren,
I was a pretty talented runner about 4 years ago,1:16 half marathon and I was a freshman in college. I suffered several Stress Fractures one right after the other for about 2 years. Then to make things worse I started getting all sorts of nerve pain in my back and leg. Recently I was Diagnosed with Celiac disease. Now that I feel better than ever, what is your advise in making a come back. I have goals I never gave up on!!
