Jesse and I leave tomorrow afternoon for Portland to start the Christmas festivities. I can’t believe it, I only have two more presents left to buy on Christmas Eve, which is some kind of personal record. At least I’m setting PR’s in something. I also placed myself in contention for a craft award today. I think that I might win my age group for sure in the “homemade coupons” division…the most competitive age bracket in that particular event is 8-10.

Christmas is cool for the usual thrills of gift giving, family time, and travel misadventures, but my personal favorite part is that I have an excuse to be an artist. The majority of that creativity is expressed in my kitchen, baking, but its also the only time of year my case of fancy-edged scissors and broad selection of glue products are utilized. Elmer’s Glue has a shelf life of infinity, so long as its used once every 365 days. This I can tell you for almost certain.

I lost myself in about 6 hours of arts and crafts today, between my 1hour turbo elliptical workout and my evening bike ride. Serendipity placed me on the elliptical next to my doctor, so we had a nice chat and update, for the third time in seven days. He set me up with a pain and back specialist tomorrow morning before we leave, so hopefully I’ll have a little more info to share tomorrow.

I found this picture from last winter and it made me really excited for the post-Christmas festivities we have in store. We’ll head over the pass to play in the snow…more on that in a few days.
